Iron and Manganese forms in water

Fe/Mn forms in water
We have three form of Iron and manganese in water

- One, Dissolved form which is colorless and dissolved not precipitated, so there is no any bad effect of dissolved Iron and Manganese in water, the problem will appear when they transformed from the dissolved form to precipitated form, and this is the second form which happens when Iron and manganese are oxidized by oxidizing agent like, oxygen from air, chlorine, ozone or any oxidizing agent
- Iron atom are dissolved when it loses only 2 electron from its outer shell and become fe+2 and manganese Mn+2 is the dissolved form of manganese.
- Oxidation of Iron and manganese ions transfers them to fe+3 and Mn+4 by losing more one electron in Iron and 2 electron in Manganese
- The third form of Iron and manganese is colloidal, and it happens when Iron react with organic materials, if colloidal iron found in water it will give water yellowish color. This is the hardest form to be removed because Iron compound in this case has very small size and it is hard to be removed with normal filtration and need more effort and techniques to be removed
